Before I shipped off one of my favorite blouses in stock, I tossed it under this dress by One Teaspoon to dress it down for everyday wear. It vaguely reminds me of that episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch where they emulated the Salem Witch Trials. I think I've just been missing the nineties lately. Anyways, the raw hem characteristic of this Australian designer's dresses takes my witch trial comparison into modern times.
Lastly, I included proof that sometimes the sky in downtown LA can be pretty.

I couldn't wait for spring to wear this Marc by Marc dress; the neckline reminds me of a chic spin on the plaid jumpers I'd wear in private school, and the floral print matches my MAC Playtime lipstick from the Quite Cute collection. The weather wasn't as enthusiastic as I, but when has that ever stopped me?

Off day photo because of the beautiful weather and the cute little joint we lunched at in downtown Santa Ana. An old band tee and hair on top of hair piled on my head is characteristic of my lazy days.

New denim button-up just added to the shop. I paired this timeless go-to piece with a classic vintage Guess shirt (which is actually from my dad). Some of my favorite vintage is from my mother, but this is a first from my dad's! I'm such a closet lurker...

Lots of new favorites are jammed into this ensemble: new favy product up on the closet shop, necklace I got for Christmas which is dark but not too (as a friend and I call it) "spooky," and the most perfectly matte hot pink lipstick by Nars. I loved it so much I had to purchase the matching nail polish too. Items labeled "try me" will be the death of me, or my pocket rather. I do try & then buy.

This past Sunday I had the privilege of vending Hardcouture-hosted flea market at Space15Twenty in Hollywood. Sold a lot of vintage goodies for cheapz, got to hang out with my besties, and munched on delicious vegan pastries. As always, I loved meeting my readers in the flesh; don't ever hold back from saying hello!

For this specific event's setup, I drew inspiration from Tavi's article "How to Make Your Room Look Like a Book (or a movie)". My display represented most closely a cross between The Virgin Suicides x Picnic at Hanging Rock x Pretty in Pink. Essentially an eclectic combination of lace, pink plastic, shrine-like candle arrangements, vintage lingerie, and 90s jewelry reminiscent of "power beads."

The conclusion to the night was extremely random yet overwhelming; le boyy, and a friend, and I stopped by a another friend's event at the One Eyed Gypsy before dropping by Harvard and Stone to meet the Masterson brothers. I had to keep myself from singing... "Hanging out, down the street, the same old thing..."

New Year's Eve ended up being a ton of fun; thanks to everyone that came out! This is what I wore for the night. Photos from the actual event will be coming via disposable camera--I made the extremely wise decision of skipping on exposing the DSLR to the madness. I received this dress in a surprise package from boxEIGHT a couple weeks ago, and after I ended up wearing my initial NYE dress for my birthday, I knew this one will fill its shoes wonderfully. The DIY Minnie Ears le boyy made me for part of my Christmas present along with these awesome platforms by Jeffree Campbell just screamed "me," haha.
I'll be reminding you lovelies again at the end of the week, but I just wanted to squeeze in that this Sunday's Space15Twenty flea market now has an official facebook event page. My friend Cameron shot these extra outfit photos above because I'm absolutely in love with this Lily White skirt I was gifted. The structure is very form-fitting yet super slimming. It sits perfectly above my hips and I can't get over the subtle side slit. It's immediately made its way to my top favorite skirts. Not to mention the amazing print. 6AM, DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas (and other holidays) while still sticking to its true meaning. I visited home spending Christmas Eve at le boyy's where they celebrate the traditional holiday, a ton of presents lying under the tree and cookies by the fireplace for Santa the next morning; and Christmas day at my house where a houseplant is decorated to simulate a tree, and for presents my mother hands me her credit card and says to order something good. Culture shock, right? Definitely not complaining; we still celebrated as a family at the annual Christmas lunch where, appropriately, I was the roaming photographer because I have the "big camera." Plus, I get to celebrate the holiday one more time when pseudo-Santa aka the UPS man comes knocking on my door. A more thorough, photographic update will be coming once I'm back home. /end rant

Although small it was packed with beautiful and unique handmade and vintage items to the brim. And no, you don't need your eyes checked, that is Vanessa Hudgens that I spotted right before she snagged a Gypsy Gold Chain Headpiece to accent her signature boho style. After vintage hoarding, we concluded lazy Sunday with huge authentic burritos and horchata. Cinnamon-y goodness.

I was so excited when I spotted this Christmas tree mid-holiday shopping, which was in lieu of the first living-on-my-own pink tinsel Christmas tree that I never got for the condo. (To justify myself I think I spent that money on Yogurtland.) Under this ultra-soft and equally warm velvet coat is the beautiful sequin dress from Lulu's which I received on my birthday--I think it's perfect for the holidays! I love the flash of sequin on a muted color like black; it's the perfect eye-catcher without being too flashy. Let's leave that to the Christmas lights.

Kiss of Death dress by One Teaspoon, DIY Glitter 99 by Jeffrey Campbell, vintage purse

My birthday week/weekend always ends up being one of the busiest ones of the year, in good and bad ways alike. It marks the coming of finals in the following days, but fortunately I got all my studying out of the way so I could enjoy the more pleasant festivities. I was invited to check out this year’s annual Snowball, and it turned out to be everything I expected and more! The slew of photos above include the beautiful courtyard-like location, and the gifting suite, which was basically an open bar stocked with beautiful makeup palettes, hair products, gift cards, and Essie nail polish—as you can see I couldn’t wait to slick it on. Not pictured is the sequin dress I snagged courtesy of Lulu’s, but you’ll hear more from this later. The night concluded with drinks and jam/recording sesh with friends in the studio.

As for the dress I wore, I picked it out from Beginning Boutique because I couldn’t fathom a better night to slip into a new One Teaspoon dress than on my birthday! I paired it with white Jeffrey Campbell 99s that I DIYed after realizing I wasn’t wearing them nearly enough as I wanted. Gold glitter was the perfect fix. Lastly, I got a new camera for my birthday to replace my older one (thanks, boo!) so you’ll see more frequent updates on my shop (I currently have two laundry bags that need to come up) and no more waiting in line at CVS for my one-hour photos.

Le boyy got me this pair of leggings and one other, I wasn't feeling much from the line besides this piece so we returned the other. Collabs like this just remind me of greedy, shameless re-sellers with no taste trying to make an extra buck on eBay. Tacky! I do love this pair, though--waiting until summer to bust these out again.
Edit: I totally forgot to mention this location! While stopping by the closest Starbucks, we found this literally in our backyard! Such a beautiful Marina. Expect more from this spot.

These were taken at the Redbury Hotel after our friend played next door at the Avalon. It was my mistake for forgetting to switch up the shutter speed on my AE-1, but I actually kind of like how they turned out. I was really excited to finally wear this shimmering gold bodysuit (which reminds me of holiday tinsel) with my beloved velvet maxi that I transformed into a mini. It was the best decision ever--the maxi was just way too much fabric and I'm using the scraps to make a DIY turban and attach my Chanel button to make a velvet bow.

I was stoked when I (actually, Kristine) found this silk button-up romper playsuit onesie... thing. On the hanger it looks a bit disproportionate, but when worn, feels amazing! I've come to realize that all bodysuits should be made out of silk--nothing comes close to the luxurious feel on your bottom. Not to mention its functionality. This one is great for wearing under your sheer maxi skirts or a pair of lace flares. Worn under a sold skirt or shorts, and it passes as an average button-up, as shown above. I can also imagine the bounds of fun it would be to prance around the house wearing this alone; just add in the American Apparel thigh highs and a brush to sing into. The photo below portrays what it looks like exactly, and in the background is the new wallpaper le boy got me!

Vintage velvet and sheer bodysuit (for sale!), American Apparel Chiffon skirt & bow
I got this new Flokati rug from UO a few weeks ago; I was soo excited to find a suitable disguise for the carpeting in my new room. Being cursed with horrible allergies, the switch from wood floors to taupe carpet was quite a shock. For future reference, I now have learned that I am never moving into a room with carpeting again. I've done a handful of significant improvement to my room since these photos, so I'll photograph the finished product shortly!

Upon le boy's relatively new employment at an art store, I decided to take advantage of it and pick up painting with watercolors. I've always been keen on sketching, so I gave painting a try. Watercolor is definitely a different medium than other paints; taking into account speedier drying times, runoff, and so much more variation between values is totally new to me. I've barely scathed the surface, but each time I practice, they get a lot better--which is totally relieving to me. Frankly, my first ones were pretty atrocious! The first few were practice pieces before I started working on originals. These were taken pre-Halloween, yet I still insist on wearing these little kitty ears wherever I go. I put up another pair of my DIY studded shorts on the closet shop, and in this post I wanted to convey the ease of converting a traditionally summery piece into a quite comfortable year-round staple. With a chunky vintage Dior sweater on top and a combination of thigh-highs with tall boots down below, it wasn't hard to stay warm on a chilly afternoon (I know, the sun may throw you off, but the coastal breeze is another story!) Knitted tights and an additional coat are great additional accessories for those who live where the mercury in that little glass tube tends to be much lower.

For the actual Halloween day, le boy and I dressed as characters from one of our favorite movies, Ponyo, written by Hayao Miyazaki. (You may be more familiar with his previous movies Kiki's Delivery Service and Totoro.) Since le boyy is the man behind the camera, and I'm no tripod aficionado, lappycam photos sufficed. I also had to sport 6 inch heels in order for us to be in the vicinity of camera's view at the same time.

Vintage store hopping while in search for le boy's Halloween costume. He was pretty satisfied with the creepy vintage kid's mask of a pig with a hot pink mohawk. Me? Not so pleased (I'm easily scared.) I love how it was totally coincidence that the signature Comme des Garcons heart on my shirt matched with the hearts that lined my garter tights.

For my first costume this Halloween, I unintentionally kept up my tradition of dressing up as female singers. After watching a late-night Nicki Minaj marathon on VH1, I encompassed a hybrid of all her different costumes, passing over the generic blonde or pink wig and selecting the most unique version of her 'dos. Unfortunately the combination of film and a built-in flash doesn't justify my Nicki-inspired makeup, but the last picture are the tools I used to complete the look.

Vintage spandex & velvet leotard (for sale!), chiffon skirt, vintage Chanel-style purse, Dolce Vita boots
Nothing can describe the glitter in my eyes every time I lay my eyes on a bodysuit, especially one in such good condition and fits so well. This amazing semi-sheer leotard with floral paisley made of velvet takes my favorite summer piece and translates it to conform to winter. Another feature I love: channeling Jane Fonda circa 1980s with these high-cut leg holes, similar to the iconic work-out suits. It really elongates the legs, so if you're a bit daring similarly to yours truly, this would look incredible layered over opaque leggings and paired with a bomber jacket. Although I've succumbed the urge to keep this all for myself and put it up on my Closet Shop, I can't say I'll be upset if it doesn't sell right away.

After meeting up a few friends and even meeting readers for the first time, I headed to Hollywood for shenanigans with le boy at the Avalon. I wasn't exactly dressed for clurbin', but I was never into getting my grind on, anyways.

Le boyy and I went on our annual trip to the pumpkin patch (our fourth one!). There's just this little light in my heart that illuminates when I pass by any pumpkin patch. I still remember going for field trips in preschool, donning a matching neon windbreaker and pantsuit, complete with a juice box in hand. This year we took his niece along, aka my mini-me. One of the perks of moving to a new city is exploring and discovering new spots, and if you're interested in blogging like me this also means... new photo ops. It was a bit of an off-road excursion, but I was more than eager to stop off here to take photos with this new wonderful skirt I received from one of my new favorite shops located in the land down under, Beginning Boutique. When I was contacted to select something from this Australian-based company, I simply requested to "surprise me." I was enthralled to have received this animal-print maxi; it fits in perfectly with my wardrobe! Being an avid lover of Aussie-based boutiques (as mentioned in my interview a while ago with iFashion magazine), I was just as excited to see One Teaspoon and StyleStalker in the list of brands they carry.
I snagged my dSLR back so I've got a ton to share with you this and next week. Not to mention stirring up my costumes for this month.

A few days ago I attended the Greek Festival. It was my first of the sort and extremely intriguing. I picked up a vegetarian gyro in accompaniment to mango & sour apple flavored honey sticks. Deee-lish. I altered this viscose art silk dress that my mother purchased in the 80's into a modern mini, and I love the strong shoulders because there are partial shoulder pads at the tips, as opposed to overbearing ones that could be mistaken for football wear. It pains me to let it go, bittersweet, if you will. PS; I'm sorry I haven't been keeping up with returning comments; it's been a busy two weeks, but they're comin'!

Deelish! I'm also determined to pursue my childhood dream of having a pygmy piggie, similar to the one Brittany Murphy (RIP) had in Uptown Girls.

I swear I'm not dead! It pains me that I haven't updated in over two weeks, which I think is the longest time since I've started posting regularly, but I've seriously had the busiest two weeks of my life! I've finished moving into my new place in LA, and as soon as I was fully settled, it was time to pack for Las Vegas. Needless to say, I'll have a lot coming for you. School has started up again and I'll be working an actual job again as well, but I've assured myself I will find time to weave in a few posts a week.
Some weeks ago we attended Art in the Streets exhibit as a part of LA's Museum of Contemporary Art. It was more of le boy's cup of tea, however I did come prepared with prior knowledge of the movement from various nights on the couch watching Netflix documentaries. Afterward we took a stroll through Little Tokyo and appropriately, topped off our adventure with Hello Kitty Frozen yogurt.

We took these a while ago, when we first accidentally discovered what a cool spot this was. I first had the boy check for trolls; I kid you not, my best friend and I were once shot at by a troll under a bridge. I really love these pants I'm selling because they're a hybrid between two of my favorite trends: the Afrika print (most popularly capitalized by American Apparel) and vintage, high waist slacks.
While exploring the terrain as middle-schoolers would, we found this written on the wall; it was as interesting as it was disheartening. I hope he/she is okay!

The location was beautiful and the sea foam waves, soft sand, and Czarina's gold-toned waves complemented all of the looks in such a unique, inimitable way. Currently: stocking up on products for pop up shops & the online shop, working on video projects including Hardcouture (and their new lookbook), styling/modeling for a good friend's new t-shirt line (coming soon!), preparing for a last minute trip to Vegas, gigs, and condo hunting in LA County for the big move next month. The latter (i.e. getting rid of old shit) is scarily parallel to what the subjects on "Hoarders" go through, except I have a little OCD thrown into the mix, therefore rationed down to a much lower scale.

Vintage nautical button-up (for sale), swimsuit (top) gifted one piece, (bottom) American Apparel & floppy hat, assorted necklaces
Took some quick snaps after swiping on a swatch of blood-red lipstick, while on our way via foot to take a dip at a friend's pool. The vintage button-up offered just the right amount of coverage, and gave my swim look that 1940's feel. Additionally, I threw on Chanel-inspired chain necklaces to top off the "chains and lifesavers" feel of it all.

I picked up this backpack at a random thrift store for $2 and haven't been able to take it off my back since. Being out of high school has forced me to forget how convenient these things are.

On Friday the boy and I finally had a non-work-related night out at Control at the Avalon to support our good friend who played. Fun, eventful night, and it was great seeing faces not otherwise seen in too long. I'm going through videos he took, and you can expect something hilarious coming to your computer screens soon; those easily offended, beware. In the meantime, cleanse and prepare you palates with this short video clip I made from last week's trunk sale (PS. Because YES, my laptop's working again! PPS. Info for the next trunk sale on the 30th).
As for my outfit, leave it to me to sport a flowy floral dress, oxford flats, and bordering-juvenile bow clips at a Hollywood club amongst a vast field of stilettos, minis, and micro-minis.

The trunk show ended up being a huge success! It was a new experience and not unexpectedly stressful, but was definitely worth it. I was so fortunate to meet some of you followers face-to-face! Our booth was extremely busy for the the majority or the day, and I know you all loved the $2 bins, I sure would too. It was tremedous fun and hands down a necessary learning experience. I will most likely be vending at the next trunk show depending on what I have in stock, so I'll let you know the deetz upon confirmation. We're also planning on holding our own sample sales this summer so stay tuned for this as well.

Because of all the upcoming opportunities, I'll be purchasing more items, but this time posting online first and then to the sales--with new special items at the sales too, of course. I also took some more awesomely awesome photos, however the boyy accidentally DELETED some of the best of them (I suppose I can't be too upset for none of this would be possible without him!), so the unlinked photos above are courtesy of KC. You're a lifesaver!
I apologize that I've been lagging but more posts are coming starting tomorrow.
