Joe's Jeans The Olivia c/o Zappos, Steve Madden Webster c/o Zappos, repurposed mesh tank, vintage Coach backpack and cardigan

The downside of rainy days: frizzy hair, when your dog gets wet, no farmers market. The upside: Perfectly diffused light for photos, neck-and-neck with dare I say, the 5 o'clock golden hour. I took advantage of the pause in precipitation to snap my favorite duo as of late: my Olivia cropped jeans and Webster boots. The fit of these jeans is a first for me: mid-rise, cropped flare, and delicate distressing at the knee. The height of the shaft of my boots hits in just the right spot, while still allowing my characteristically sparkly and/or pastel socks to peek out (in this case, gold lurex). Both are from Zappos, whom I can always trust to have unmatchable customer service, a 1-year return policy, and huge range of style selections to choose from.

Temps are finally dropping in SoCal (kind of), so I paired this super extra-but-amazing sheer tulle top with sleek flared denim by Hudson. Because of the intricate lace neckline and my standout red boots, I had somewhat of rodeo clown in the desert vibe but I'm 100^% OK with the result. Love that I was able to experiment with a different jean silhouette--flared leg (I'm usually a skinny high waist or full-blown mom jean)--with the reassurance of Zappos' 1-year return policy and superb customer service. Thanks, dudes!

Finally rounded up my photos from FYF this year--it took a bit because I held off on posting until my film shots from my new bb Yashica were developed. Favorite performances included Kendrick, Explosions in the Sky, and Grace Jones. For nostalgia's sake, Saves the Day's Stay What You Are live was at the top of my list, but I'm not a fan of the new voice change; I wish he performed it as it was on the original album.

And because for some of us, festival "season" is actually a year-round escapade (I just got back from Desert Daze in Joshua Tree last weekend and heading to Beach Goth in Costa Mesa tomorrow), here's my:

FESTIVAL SURVIVAL GUIDE

Festival survival kitFestival survival kit
Fjallraven Kanken Mini, Yashica T4, Coach wallet

A sturdy backpack and reliable film camera are at the root of every strong festival kit.

Festival survival kit
Acne sunglasses, pepper spray, lighter, hand sani, Balm dotcom c/o Glossier, Too Faced pressed powder

Protect yourself: your eyes from the sun, your safety with pepper spray from any fuckbois, your hands from impromptu potty stops, your lips from the dry winds, and your T-zone from light-reflecting shine

frizz tamer c/o label.msunscreen oil c/o Supergoop, bandaids, fav. perfume sample (right now it's Replica Jazz Club), Polaroid cube+ action cam // tampons c/o LOLA

Some personal items that I always keep on my person include sunscreen (I love this easy-to-apply oil from Supergoop) and these LOLA tampons are amaze: they're part of a subscription service that you can customize with each delivery, the brand is cruelty-free, the tampons are organic, and it's owned by WOMEN.

Festival survival kit
rag & bone flask, iPhone charger c/o Happy Plugs, marble portable charger c/o UO, cord taco c/o This Is Ground

Lastly are the lifesavers. Because drinks are too damn expensive, and you can't afford to have a dead phone while a special guest runs onto the stage.

One of my favorite festivities that will never grow old (err.. I’ll never grow too old for) is the pumpkin patch. Whether I walk out with a pumpk of my own or empty handed, I just love the event; it’s somewhat of a nostalgic initiation of the changing seasons for me. (However, I of course do not condone the use of petting zoos!) This year I teamed up one of my favorite trends, the PJ blouse, with skinnies and these super comfy Dolce Vita Saylor boots from Zappos. And to demo the versatility of their boots, I wore another of my favorite pairs, the Dolce Vita Jesse, with a less casual outfit—a star print and heavily cut out dress by Reformation. Zappos has hands-down been one of my favorite go-to spots for so many things, both for myself and for gifts! They have a whopping 1-year return policy, free shipping & returns, and their customer service is top-notch, which you know by now is v rare in our current ecommerce-saturated world.
