NYFW AW 2014 PHOTO DIARY

New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 NYFW street style

Topshop Yeti Coat, vintage button-up, vinyl PVC skirt c/o Missguided, H&M bag & tights, Meadham Kirchhoff socks, Topshop shoes

Here I give you my giant, almost all-inclusive New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 photo diary that I admittedly spent 1.5 hours of Poke'mon episodes working on. Something about having nostalgic Netflix audio open in another tab makes coding img URLs a little less like, well, coding img URLs. You can follow along with the captions, with each one referring to the photo above. Enjoy!

Day 1 was travel and recovery, so here's
DAY 2

Caught this captivating shot on the train to my home for the week to follow.

Amazing hostess and friend Dahni!

En route to my first show, Rebecca Minkoff. Fittingly, I was late and didn't make it. Shopping in SoHo would remedy the situation thereafter.

Met up with Dani and Bianca! If you haven't checked out their blog, Kastor & Pollux, you desperately need to, immediately! Go ahead, open it in a new tab. They're one of my favs.

DAY 3

NYFW FW AW 2014 New York Fashion Week

Maje Eponime Collared Dress, leopard coat c/o White Crow, Chanel purse, Deena & Ozzy boots

Favorites included Ostwald Helgason at MILK Studios and Zana Bayne. I was totally giddy while leaving the former, as I looked to my left and realized I was walking next to personal style icon Miroslava Duma (see below).

Zana Bayne was spellbinding. My DSLR lens decided to be fleeting at the worst time, so I whipped out my phone to capture the pieces that could each easily be their own works of art.

DAY 4

I started the day by covering beauty backstage at Eckhaus Latta, which was an exciting experience. That will have its own post to follow. Below is the Brian Lichtenberg presentation, and... my first time in the snow!

After soaking in all the BL goodness at the Hudson Hotel, I went upstairs to check out the restaurant. Along with a rich glass of delicious ale, I had one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches. Ever. Mind you, grilled cheese is one of my favorite foods, so this certainly says more than anticipated. The bread was french toast, maple syrup and all, and the cheese was a four cheese blend fused with truffle oil. If you're in the area, you must stop by.

SNOW! The whole week of finger-numbing chills and biting, nose-stinging air was worth the one day of snowfall that I got to experience. It's so Californian of me, but witnessing the snow was absolutely sublime. I drew this heart in the snow and sent it to ~bestie~ Chris back home, who pointed out that there were paw prints beside it, appropriately.

Finished the day off with hot sake, and Ja'mie: Private School Girl at home.

DAY 5

Can U Not vintage Posh Perfect Coat, Zara cropped sweater, H&M dress, Chanel purse, Meadham Kirchhoff tights, Topshop hat, vintage gifted boots (thanks, Bambi!)

As you can see, outfit pics were limited to selfies without Christopher (and after coming back, I realized I get more #ootd's in one outfit than I did all week). It was a good chance to focus on travel and my point of view rather than worrying about shots; I'm not entirely sure I could've appreciated Central Park like I did. First off was Tommy Hilfiger, bright & early at 11am. Definitely one of my favorites of the week. I'm so down with heavy coats, bare legs, and chunky bootie wedges. And the flannel-accented backpack? Yes, please. Although one of the intro songs, Angeles by Elliot Smith, aided in the peak of my homesickness.

Afterward, I pulled out my trusty Google Maps to decide on how I should get back to Lincoln Center. I could either take a driver, or cut through Central Park for a 1 1/2 mile walk. Despite the freezing temperature and the fact that I was wearing tights, I didn't hesitate for the walk. It was surreal. The fresh snow from the night before on the trees and the ground was the whitest white.

I had breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien, a delicious goat cheese salad, finished off with hot tea. After, I checked out Katya Leonovich, and skipped the Alice + Olivia presentation and some others to check out the Beatles exhibit at the Preforming Arts Center. My gut tells me I made the right decision. That will also be getting its own post, coming soon.

Met up with Dahni in Soho after being deeply disappointed by Zara's sale, filled up at L'asso, then headed to Assembly New York's afterparty.

My sixth and final day was dedicated to sleeping in until 2pm and making the trek back home. Unfortunately I had to miss Marc by Marc Jacobs and Jeremy Scott on Thursday & Friday so that I could catch at least one day of classes for the week, but it turned out alright when all flights just after mine were cancelled for a few days for the coming storm. I feel really fortunate to have had such a successful premier NYFW, as well as getting the chance to experience New York at 95 degrees in June and 30 degrees in February.

xoxo
